Before your HBOT visit
Please take a few minutes to read this before your appointment at HBOT Chattanooga, so you can walk in feeling relaxed and prepared.

Your session may be after our regular office hours. If the front desk is empty when you arrive, please call or text us at 423-362-5360 and we'll come get you.
Please arrive a few minutes early. We'll have one more short set of HBOT paperwork for you to fill out when you get here.
What to wear
- Comfortable layers, since the temperature inside the chamber can vary.
- Clothing that is 100% cotton or a 50/50 cotton blend. Please avoid synthetic materials like polyester or nylon.
- Before you go into the chamber, you'll take off your shoes and empty your pockets into one of our cubbies.
- Optional: you're welcome to bring your own pillow and/or blanket. We just ask that the pillow and pillowcase be 100% cotton.

What to bring
- A list of all current medications, including the dose and how often you take them.

- Any questions you'd like to ask.

Smoking, alcohol and feeling sick
- Smoking: please avoid smoking and secondhand smoke during your treatment weeks. If you do smoke, please avoid it for at least 2 hours before and after your session.
- Alcohol: please avoid alcohol before your session and right after it.
- Cold or flu: please let us know before your appointment if you have a cold, flu, sinus infection or blocked ears. We may recommend sitting out a day or two.
- Diabetes: please monitor your blood sugar and tell us right away if you feel symptoms of low blood sugar.
What happens during your session
Our chamber is one OxyHealth Vitaeris 320 soft chamber with gentle pressure (about 4 PSI), and you breathe concentrated oxygen through a mask.
- We show you the chamber and how the zippers open from the inside, so you know you are never locked in.
- You lie down on the mattress inside the chamber and put on your oxygen mask.
- The chamber fills slowly. You'll feel it in your ears, like a plane taking off, but not on the rest of your body.
- Breathe normally and rest. A member of our team stays with you the whole time.
- At the end, we release the pressure slowly.
Clearing your ears
As the chamber fills, clear your ears by holding your nose and swallowing, yawning, or moving your jaw side to side. You should not feel pain, so tell us right away if you feel any discomfort and we'll pause.
Family and visitors
Family and visitors are welcome to see our space and ask questions, but must stay in the front waiting room during sessions for the safety and privacy of all of our patients.
